ISOVER solar products gain SPF Certification

Two new specialist glasswool Solar insulation products, developed by insulation world leader ISOVER to overcome the problem of outgassing emission in solar collectors, have successfully passed severe tests to achieve prestigious fogging certification by leading German solar institute, SPF.

Whilst the service temperature of solar collectors can go up to 200°C, slow circulation of calorific fluid caused by low water or system failure, can increase this to around 230°C, causing different organic compounds within the insulation, casing etc, to evaporate and condense on the glazing. This recognised phenomenon reduces light transmittance and affects the efficiency of the solar energy absorption system.

The two new ISOVER Solar products, one unfaced and one with a special black glass tissue facing, have been developed with extremely low organic content and high thermal performance. They will therefore avoid fogging deposits or condensation, even at high stagnation temperatures, and thus maintain optimum performance unit performance.

SPF, the 'Institut fur Solartecknic' (Institute for Solar Technology), is one of Europe’s most respected bodies for solar research. Opened in 1981, it carries out testing and research into solar-related issues as well as transferring knowledge through advanced training for students and technical staff in the solar and related industries.
